Joanne Weaver-Studio Director

a graduate of Kutztown University(BFA in Dance, Music and Theater) teaches Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Tumbling, Stretch & Strengthen to children and adults.  Joanne's first love has always been musical theatre. She showcased her vocal and dancing talents locally at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater and The Fulton.  She has also taught dance for The Fulton's Summer and Winter workshops.  She has enjoyed choreographing musicals such as School House Rock Jr. and Guys and Dolls Jr. all at The Fulton.  She is also the founder of PK Project, a Modern Dance troupe that celebrates the diversity in women.  PK Project has performed throughout Lancaster including Theater of the Seventh Sister, Ephrata Playhouse, E-Town Relay for Life, Countdown Lancaster, Lancaster Crime Victims' Vigil & National Dance Week.

Dana Shelley-Ballet Director

Dana began dancing at age four here in Lancaster County, and she continued her dance education at Goucher College, in Baltimore, MD, graduating in 2005.  She earned a B.A. in Dance, concentration in Performance & Choreography, and a B.A. in Business Management, concentration in Arts Administration.  Dana also studied dance in Brazil at the Universidad Federal de Rio de Janeiro, Universidad Angel Vianna, and UniverCidade. She has completed two Vaganova ballet technique teaching seminars in Philadelphia, conducted by John White, Co-Director of the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet.  Dana has danced with Goucher's Dancers In Action, The Crystal Coast Arts Project, and Inertia/New Breed Dance Company, and she is currently dancing with Opus 1 Contemporary Dance out of Philadelphia.  Dana has served as guest teacher and choreographer for several high schools and colleges, including the University of Southern California.  She teaches most of the ballet, pointe, and modern classes at SSDC.  Dana is dedicated to helping her students learn as much as possible while maintaining a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

Tracy Sanchez- Hip Hop, Tap, Group Fitness Director

a graduate of Slippery Rock University (BA in Dance, BS in Health & Physical Education). Tracy started dancing at age 9 at her hometown dance studio in Butler, PA. She studied ballet, jazz, and tap. She started performing in musicals in 8th grade. Her love for the Performing ARTS blossomed in Jr. High and she then studied acting and voice as well. Throughout her high school career, she was involved in many performing arts productions. Her fondest memories on the stage were performing as Juliet in “When Shakespeare’s Ladies Meet” and as Beauty in “Beauty and the Beast”. She also performed with her high school dance team at football/basketball games, parades and dance competitions. Her love for choreography began as a pre-teen creating dances with her cousin for recitals for their family. Her first opportunity to choreograph was “Fiddler on the Roof” as a Junior in High School.
After high school, Tracy went to Slippery Rock University to study Health, Physical Education, and Dance. She performed with guest modern dance companies, in SRU’s dance concerts, on the Rocklette Dance Team, and was selected to perform at different dance conventions, and become an assistant teacher for guest artists. In 1994, she traveled to Okinawa, Japan to perform professionally as a “Marcel” with the “Walt Maddox & the Marcels” at a Beach Resort for two months. She was a back-up singer and a featured jazz dancer. Tracy choreographed modern dances for SRU & jazz dances for the performances in Japan. After returning to the states, Tracy graduated from college with a double major.
Tracy moved to Lancaster to accept a teaching position in SDoL. She accepted a Dance/PE Teacher position at McCaskey High School to create a dance program involving ballet, modern, jazz, cultural dance, dance history, and choreography. She began choreographing the spring musicals at McCaskey in 1998 and also directed Color Guard. In 2001, she transferred to M.L. King Elementary to teach PE/HEALTH. After teaching for 14 years in SDoL, she decided to change careers and follow her first love and passion which is anything that involves DANCE & Fitness.

Tammy Jacobs

has been married to Paul Jacobs, a photographer for Charles Studio for 12 years.  They have been blessed with two amazing children, Evan (9) and Elizabeth (6).  Tammy has studied and taught dance for many years, with a 6 year hiatus to have children.  She has studied at just about all the dance studios in Lancaster, as well as dance studios in NY, Philadelphia and San Diego.  Her studies included Jazz, the Luigi Jazz technique, Ballet, Pointe and Yoga.  Tammy has performed in many local productions at the Fulton, EPAC, etc.  She also danced and choreographed many liturgical dances for churches. She continues to choreograph the Kraybill Mennonites winter and spring musicals, as well as occasionally dancing with Kinetic Dance Theatre, under the direction of Priscilla B. Kauffhold.   She worked professionally singing, dancing and modeling in NY, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, Atlantic City and of course, our own Lancaster county.  Tammy was Miss South Central PA USA 1984-1985 and went on to coach 9 out of 10 Miss South Centrals into the top 10 of the Miss PA USA Pageant.  She was also first runner-up national in Beauty, Modeling and the Talent competition in the Miss Northern Hemisphere competition in 1993.  She has coached many young ladies with their walks, turns etc for fitness and beauty competitions.  In the past she was a fitness instructor teaching the following:  Aquasize, Aerobics, Abs and Stretch and relaxation.  Tammy was a personal trainer at Fitness America.  As far as teaching dance, she has taught the youngest dancers creative Movement and Ballet at the Laurel Ballet Company in New Holland for many years and here at the Silver Spring Dance Conservatory for 5 years.  She also brings dance “field trips” to several local preschools and day camps in the area.  Tammy LOVES preschoolers!  She loves their energy and spontaneity and feels blessed to help them begin their journey into the wonderful world of dance!

Lauren Walters
is the newest member to the SSDC staff.  She was a substitute for our 2009-2010 school year and is now ready to take on classes of her own!  Lauren found her love for dance at a young age. Inspired by the art of movement, she attended various studios to study ballet, pointe, tap, and jazz. Lauren joined PK Project in August of 2009 and quickly became a strong choreographer adding to the company’s main repertoire.

Jill Minor
was so happy to join SSDC as a substitute teacher in 2008.  Having enjoyed it so much, she decided to dive in with her own classes in 2009.  Jill has a BA in dance from Point Park College.  After performing around the world both on land and sea, Jill and her husband, Michael moved to Lancaster to perform at The American Music Theatre.  At the end of 2005, Jill retired from the stage to stay at home with her two children, Noah now 6 and Neve 3.  She also finds time to shoot commercials and print ads on a part time basis.  You may have seen her in commercials for Sesame Place, Independence Seaport Museum, Hershey Park and more.  Jill feels blessed to be given the opportunity to work with children and watch them grow in their love for the arts!

Kylee Daniels
is currently in her 4th year at Millersville University, planning to graduate December of 2012, studying for a degree in Elementary Education with a Studio Art Minor. Kylee started taking dance classes at a very young age, but then decided to take gymnastics and cheerleading at 7 years old. She cheered all throughout grade school while gathering her skills in tumbling, and came back to dance classes in high school at SSDC.  Kylee has had most of her experience in Modern and advanced Hip Hop classes, but enjoys all areas of dance. Kylee is very interested in the arts of all kind. She pulls her inspiration from fine art photography, painting, music, and most importantly dance. As well as having a passion for the arts, she also has a strong passion for teaching. She is very excited to combine her love of dance with her goal of being a elementary school teacher in her dance classes.
